Can I send just a photo of the birth certificate?
Yes – a clear photo or scan is sufficient. Please ensure that all data is legible. We also ask you to send the reverse side of the document if it contains data.
Does the document need to be certified as a translation of the original?
In the case of registering a birth in Poland – yes. The Polish registry office usually requires the translator to indicate whether they worked from the original document. You can send a video with the document or use the courier service.
Is an electronic translation sufficient for the Polish authorities?
Some authorities accept electronic translations with a qualified signature, but most still require a paper version with the translator’s stamp.
Do I need to translate the whole document?
Yes – A certified translation must contain the entire content of the document, including stamps and signatures.
Can I order a copy of a birth certificate in the UK?
Yes – you can obtain a certificate from the General Register Office website. It is worth ordering the full version (Full Certificate), which includes parents’ details.
Does a birth certificate from England need to have an Apostille?
No – if the document is to be used only in Poland, a certified translation is sufficient. An apostille is required, for example, for procedures in third countries.
