Sworn Translators From The Ministry of Justice's List
The list of sworn translators presented by Ministry of Justice contains almost 14,000 sworn translators with ability to translator into and from 56 languages. A sworn translator included in the list of the Ministry of Justice is a person of public trust who, in order to practice his profession, is obliged to pass the examination to become a sworn translator organized by the Division of Sworn Translators of the Department of Legal Professions at the Ministry of Justice. After passing the exam, such a translator is authorized to perform sworn translations, i.e. translations declared with the seal of a sworn translator, his signature and repertory number.
Sworn Translators From The Ministry of Justice's List
The list of sworn translators by MJ isn’t available for everyone. The job of sworn translator can be performed only by person with an impeccable legal opinion and higher education, also it is obligatory to pass all the additional egzamination process succesfully to verify the ability of translation into foreign languages. After the egzaminition, the person with possitive results is inserted to the list of sworn translators of Poland by Ministry of Justice. In this process the Ministry of Justice also gives the personal identification number and seal with translator’s initials which is proped with the language that can be used by translator while realizing certified translations. Also, on the seal is the number of the translator’s position on the list of sworn translators of the Ministry of Justice. In addition, each translation is marked with the number under which it appears in the repertory.
Sworn translation from original or copy?
A sworn translator included in the list of the Ministry of Justice should make a note on the translation whether the translation was made from the original document or a copy or copy thereof. A sworn translator may perform certified translations both for private individuals and for state authorities, such as the Courts, the Police or the Prosecutor’s Office. The Ministry of Justice’s list of sworn translators is constantly being updated.
List of sworn translators of the District Court
Additionaly, the District Courts of Poland have their own list of certified translators. But it is worth to mention that the sworn translators on this list are the same people that are included into the list of Ministry of Justice. In this case, additional districting follows. Besides the lists of sworn translators of the MS, the list of sworn translators of the District Court in Warsaw, Lublin, Kalisz, Poznań and Katowice is also in force.
The Act on the profession of a sworn translator
The profession of a sworn translator in Poland is regulated by the Law on the Profession of Sworn Translators of January 27, 2005. The remuneration of sworn translators is determined by a decree of the Minister of Justice. The ordinance refers only to official rates for activities performed for courts, prosecutors’ offices and public administration bodies. A sworn translator listed by the Ministry of Justice in the public market has the right to apply unbundled rates. As a result, market rates vary widely and vary according to language, location and translation agency.
